Citation Flight Summary for the flight of 8/13/99. After having had the TRMM missions called down for the day, the Citation flew a wind system calibration flight. The aircraft took off at 0315 Z and flew reverse tracks at various airspeeds and altitudes, going from 10,000 ft to 30,000 ft. In addition there were a series of maneuvers carried out at 25,000 ft. The data gathered during this time is used to check the calibration of the wind system. There was some discussion between the Ops Center and the Citation personnel regarding a flyby of a ship, but this was deemed to be impractical and the aircraft returned to base and landed at 0556 Z. The total time flown was 2.6 hrs. Data Quality. As there were no clouds of interest and the objective was for calibration of the air motion measurement system, only the relevant state parameters and air motion measurements were on during the flight. These all appeared to be functioning normally. Flight Scientist: Grainger.
