The GMS IR data has 8 km resolution. A grey scale with warmer temperatures darker, and colder temperature lighter is used. At the top of the scale, colors (red-yellow) are used to indicate temperatures 208 K and colder. The contiguous area < 208 K is used in the classification of cloud systems into classes 0-4.
The exact time of the satellite used in each mission summary frame is indicated in the box on the bottom right of the image, in the row containing gms_big in the PLATFORM column.
