COGS Seminar Scheduling

COGS Seminars should be scheduled during the first five weeks of the quarter of application (if applying via the revised guidelines of April 2008). At least two members of applicant's supervisory committee and two members of the COGS must be present. See below for the current schedule of possible seminar dates and COGS committee availability:

Spring Quarter 2010
Winter Quarter 2010
Autumn Quarter 2009

Students applying via the new qualification procedures (rev. April 2008):
To schedule a seminar, do the following:

1) Find a date that all required committee members (supervisory and COGS) can attend.

You are required to confirm that a minimum of two members of your committee (one must be your chair) and two members of the COGS will attend. To assist you in confirming COGS member attendance, their availability is indicated below; you are responsible for confirming the attendance of your committee members.

2) Contact the seminar coordinator and ask them to tentatively reserve the date, pending confirmation of attendance by all committee members.

3) Send the tentative date/time to Sam for confirmation of COGS members attendance; send the tentative date/time to supervisory committee members and ask for confirmation of attendance.

4) Once attendance is fully confirmed, email the seminar coordinator (and copy Sam) asking them to finalize the reservation.

Students applying via the old qualification procedures (pre-April 2008):
Seminar should be given in the quarter prior to quarter of application (spring qtr if applying in aut qtr.) Contact one of the departmental seminar coordinators to reserve a date and time for the seminar at least four weeks ahead of the proposed date. Once the seminar is reserved, email the course number (ie. ATM S 523), date, time, and location to the Sam who will then notify the COGS and post it on this page.
