The General Circulation of the Atmosphere

Course Requirements : Grades will be based on performance on the midterm and final exams, a term paper to be handed in by the last day of classes on a topic of the student's choice, and one short (2-3 hour) written homework assignment. Students will be responsible for reading course notes and a selection of book chapters and journal articles and for working problems posed in the lecture notes. The exam will be primarily in a discussion format, though some short derivations may be required. Participation in class discussions, and raising good questions during class is strongly encouraged.

Grading Policy:Grades will be determined as follows: Midterm 15%, Final 35%, Term Paper 35%, Writing Assignment 10%, Class participation 5%.

Prerequisites509 recommended.
