Terrestrial Biomass

During the glacial periods, much of North America was covered in ice and the tropical regions became drier. These factors reduced the overall extent of terrestrial biomass. As a result, less CO2 was being removed from the atmosphere by plants. This created a negative feedback loop between temperature, biomass, and atmospheric CO2.
