The physics of global warming

- list human produced greenhouse gases and rank them in terms of relative
importance and global warming potential (GWP)

- explain GWP and why it varies so much from one gas to another

- explain why we don't worry about human emissions of water vapor

- discuss the role of aerosols in the greenhouse warming problem, the distinction
between sulfur and soot; direct vs. indirect effects

- mention large incertainties regarding cloud feedbacks

- explain how models are used to estimate climatic impacts of greenhouse warming

- summarize model predictions (rise in global-mean temperature, latitudinal and
seasonal distribution, invigoration of hydrologic cycle)
