Spring 2018: May 30-31: Hannah Horowitz and Becky Alexander attend the NSF ATC PI meeting in Boulder, CO.  May 15: Alicia Wright is awarded a summer research grant from the Washington Space Grant Summer Undergraduate Research Program! May 14-16: Becky Alexander participates in the ALPACA workshop in Fairbanks, AK. April 18: Becky Alexander gives a seminar in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at UCLA.  April 2: John Robinson successfully defends his master’s thesis.  Congratulations John!  March 25-28: Becky Alexander presents at the International Symposium on Isotopomers (ISI 2018) in Baton Rouge, LA.

Autumn 2017: December 11-15: Hannah Horowitz, Qianjie Chen and Jingyuan Shao present their work at the AGU meeting in New Orleans, LA.  December 7: Becky Alexander gives a talk at the IAMA conference in Davis, CA.  December 1: Alumna Maria Zatko was elected co-director of the board of the Puget Sound Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association.  November 3: Qianjie Chen successfully defends his Ph.D. thesis.  Congratulations Qianjie! October 16: Visiting student Sakiko Ishino from Tokyo Institute of Technology arrives at the UW.  Welcome Sakiko!

Summer 2016: August 24: Qianjie Chen’s paper is accepted to ACP!  July 19: Becky Alexander gives a talk at the Telluride Gas-Phase Atmospheric Chemistry meeting. July 1: Becky Alexander gives a talk at the Goldschmidt conference in Yokohama, Japan. June 27: John Robinson goes to the National Ice Core Laboratory in Denver, CO to prepare WAIS Divide samples for shipment to the UW.

Winter 2016: March 7: Qianjie Chen gives a talk in the Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry Seminar.  February 11: Maria Zatko’s paper is accepted to Atmos. Chem. Phys.!  February 4: Visiting Ph.D. student Erwann Legendre arrives at the UW from  Sorbonne University in Paris, France.  Welcome Erwann!   January 28: Lei Geng is awarded a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship to work with Joel Savarino at the LGGE/CNRS in Grenoble, France.  Congratulations again Lei!   January 7: Lei Geng is awarded the “1000 Young Talent Program”, and will take a position at the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, Anhui, China.  Congratulations Lei!

Fall 2015: New graduate student John Robinson arrives at the UW.  Welcome John!  December 20: Qianjie Chen gives a talk at Pacifichem 2015 in Honolulu, Hawaii.  November 6: Maria Zatko received the PNWIS-AWMA Excellence in Presentation for Young Professionals award at the Pacific Northwest International Section of the Air and Waste Management Association 55th Annual Conference!

Summer 2015: August 21: Claire Buysse gives a poster presentation on her work this summer for JISAO.  August 10: Maria Zatko successfully defends her Ph.D. dissertation.  Congratulations Maria!! Winter 2015:  March 17: Becky Alexander gives a talk at the Cold and Arid Region Environmental and Engineering Research Institute in Lanzhou, Gansu, China.  February 12: Visiting student Pengzhen He from the University of Science and Technology of China arrives at the UW!  Lei Geng is selected to attend the New Generation of Polar Researchers (NGPR) Leadership Symposium in May in Catalina Island, CA!  Becky Alexander is awarded a Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) for Visiting Scientists to work with Professor Ninglian Wang at the Cold and Arid Region Environmental and Engineering Research Institute!

Phys.  Congratulations Lei!  November 21: Becky Alexander gives an invited talk at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.  November 17: Lei Geng gives a talk in the department’s Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry seminar series.  November 4: Becky Alexander gives an invited talk in Department of Chemistry at the University of Michigan.  October 13-15: Maria Zatko and Becky Alexander attend the workshop on Chemical Atmosphere-Snow-Sea Ice Interactions in Cambridge, U.K., where Becky gave an invited talk and Maria gave two poster presentations on her work on snow photochemistry in Antarctica and Utah.  September 22-24: Lei Geng and Becky Alexander attend the WAIS Divide Science Meeting in La Jolla, CA where Lei presents his research on sea salt aerosol concentration in the WAIS Divide ice core.
