Overview of Toce River Valley from a point ~70 m above valley floor on the west shoulder near the village of Pieve Vergonte. This elevated location is one of several sites selected for deployment of the Doppler On Wheels radar, and corresponds to the vertex of an L-shaped bend in the valley, thus affording excellent views northward to the Alpine crest and east-southeastward toward upper arm of the Lago Maggiore. The OPRA site is mid-valley east-northeast of this location, visible only as a white-colored water standpipe adjacent to the Edison Hydroelectric plant.

View from within fenced yard of Edison Hydroelectric plant, which will serve as operational location for OPRA as well as provide secure parking for the Doppler On Wheels radar when it is not in use. Note opening of valley west of this site, which is the proposed site of the ETH VP radar near Macugnaga, Italy (some 25 km distant toward the west-southwest).
