Exhibit development and Fabrication: updated 10 October, 2002, JET.

Display venue and components

Located immediately west of Howard Chizeck's office, Thursday, 27 June, he presented his ideas and is making available all of the walls around the alcove for mounting images, murals and supporting information. Especially useful is his suggestion of mounting the large Viking panorama and others, (maybe my Pathfinder "Many rover" print), above the nominal ceiling on the walls of the vault opposite the location of descriptive text. All text must be on the display boards or enclosures, for ease of reading.

The LFEM - STEP program will also be featured, especially its ongoing and future components, on one or two panels on the display board and these will refer to the bulletin boards facing into the display area. Since they are glass covered and locked, we can easily change them as we progress and to emphasize different aspects. After the initial display is completed, we will acquire display hardware to couple to our web materials, especially meteorology, created for past and future programs . Since MetLander is a major mission for which we are developing components, it will be featured. I might display previews of Mars science results, if we deem it appropriate.

Enclosure

The enclosure has been assembled by John Schulz,

as shown relaxing within his creation. (The lander will remain covered until we are finished with other tasks ready to reassemble it.)

Display panels

The display board was developed by JET (me), Jim G Tillman (my son), Rachel Tillman MacClarence (my daughter), and Howard Chizeck (EE Chair)

The display panels will be mounted on the top of the enclosure, angled forward, and will include the captions and some associated, supporting, or complimentary items. Graphical and text items will be printed, and then placed on individual supporting poster board using a structure similar to this short section sketch display board structure provided by Rachel.

The two long sides of the display are 12 feet long, angled at 45 degrees, mounted on the enclosure walls, supported near the rear. The board is 1 inch thick by 11 1/4 inched deep. Later, some very important components may etched into glass or bronze.

Alarm

The alarm has been installed by a Rotary colleague and is covered below.
