Me, at a glance
I'm a 4th-year PhD candidate in atmospheric and climate science at the
University of Washington, and a freelance science writer and communicator.
As a researcher, I focus on how tropical phenomena can improve our
understanding of extreme rainfall and flooding events in both tropical regions
and midlatitude regions. This work largely focuses on understanding the most
extreme atmospheric rivers to hit the West Coast of the U.S.
As a science writer, I frequently write about environmental justice,
science policy, and potential responses to climate change.
My reporting has appeared in Inside Climate News, Grist,
the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, Documented, Gothamist, and elsewhere.
