No late homework will be accepted, but your lowest homework score will be dropped in computing your overall homework grade. The previous week's homework will be discussed as needed at quiz section.

Quiz Sections. led by TAs will complement the lectures. They may include a laboratory demonstration or worksheet, and also provide you an opportunity for informal discussion of the lecture material and of graded homework assignments.  To provide you and us quick feedback on your understanding of basic course material, there will be short quizzes during most quiz sections, which will count for 10% of the overall course grade. You will receive 50% credit on a quiz just for  showing up and writing your name on it. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped, and

Forecast Contest. During November, we will hold a web-based forecasting contest for the next day's temperature and precipitation at a Pacific Northwest location. Details will be posted on the class web page. This contest will count for 10% of your class grade.  Participation will count for half of your contest score, skill for the other half.
