Specifying a Field

This page describes how to display and overlay any combination of available data fields in KwajZebra.


As described in General Setup, each large icon at the bottom of the main windows (except the "Z" icon) represents a data directory where data files are stored. These data files are usually in NetCDF format, and may contain any number of fields at a given time. For example, a single radar data file may contain reflectivity, radial velocity and spectral width fields from one radar volume scan.

In order for a particular field to be displayed, the icon corresponding to the directory where it is located must be enabled (see General Setup). Then, to specify the correct field, click on the large icon with the middle mouse button. This pulls up a menu containing available fields at the top. The field currently selected for display is designated with an asterisk.

To specify a different field, simply use the left mouse button to select the name of the field from the menu.

Shortcuts are available for toggling between commonly used fields. These are done by simply moving the mouse cursor inside the window where the field is being displayed and typing a shortcut key. Below are some important shortcut keys for use in KwajZebra:
