The Effects of Global Warming in High Latitudes:
Reduction of Sea Ice

Summary:

Although the models have some disagreements, there are a few key elements on which all the models agree. First, all models predict a continuing decrease of sea ice in the 21st century. Second, all models predict that the most dramatic reductions will occur in the summer months, during the melt season. Third, all models predict that changes occur in the Arctic much more rapidly than in the Antarctic. The models disagree on the spacial variability of the sea ice changes and on the initial magnitude of those changes.
