A recent UW News article written by Atmospheric Sciences alumni Hannah Hickey “Planting trees in pastureland provides significant cooling in the tropics” highlights the current research of Professor David Battisti and first author graduate student Lucas Vargas Zeppetello. Their research study in partnership with The Nature Conservancy, Duke University, UC San Diego, and Stony Brook University Hospital focused on rising temperatures in the tropical regions and the effects of natural cooling from planting trees. The paper was published February 4th in Nature Communications.
