Final Examination and Dissertation Defense
The dissertation represents an original contribution toward understanding a problem of substantial scientific importance.
The dissertation must be prepared in accordance with the rules and procedures of the Graduate School. It is traditional and encouraged in the Department of Atmospheric and Climate Science for the dissertation defense to be an open presentation delivered as part of the department colloquium or seminar. However, students may elect not to given an open defense. Following a successful defense a student will have completed their PhD.
