Undergrads: Mortar Board Membership Applications Due by February 8, 2020

Are you looking for a way to get more involved with a meaningful experience in your last year at the University of Washington? Apply to join Mortar Board!

Founded in 1909, Mortar Board is the oldest continuing honor society on the UW campus. Each year, up to 44 students are selected for membership in UW’s celebrated Tolo Chapter of Mortar Board. Mortar Board members are a diverse group of individuals who have excelled in academics and have demonstrated excellent leadership skills. Tolo Chapter’s small class provides a unique opportunity to meet other amazing scholars on campus and to participate in the group’s service and leadership opportunities.

Membership in Mortar Board is a wonderful honor. Mortar Board has longstanding, highly respected legitimacy as a certified national honor society recognizing college seniors for their exemplary scholarship, leadership and service. In addition to a meaningful membership experience, having the distinction of Mortar Board on your professional resume is impressive in your future endeavors.

Notable Mortar Board alumni include civic leader and UW Regent Mary Gates, philanthropist Marion Olive McCaw, past Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna, NFL quarterback Drew Brees, diplomat and educator Condoleezza Rice. These are but a few of Mortar Board’s many distinguished alumni.
